Junior Rugby (U16-U18)
Overview
The Markham Irish Junior program includes U16 and U18 athletes and offers a competitive, supportive environment for players to continue developing their rugby skills. At this level, teams are separated by age and gender and play full contact rugby, with a strong emphasis on player safety, enjoyment, and long-term development. Junior rugby builds on the foundations established in Youth, with increased focus on sport-specific skills, team structure, and game strategy. Players of all experience levels are welcome, whether they are new to the game or preparing for higher levels of competition. Many Markham Irish Junior athletes have gone on to represent the club at both provincial and national levels.
Schedule
The Junior season is typically divided into two formats. 15s rugby runs from May to August, followed by 7s rugby through September. Outdoor training begins as soon as field conditions allow, with exact dates shared through team communication channels.
Practices
Practice schedules vary by age group and team and take place at the clubhouse, 150 Austin Drive:
