Honouring Tim’s Legacy: The 2026 Tim Chapman Memorial Award

Last year, the Markham Irish introduced the Tim Chapman Memorial Award for Outstanding Leadership in memory of Tim Chapman, a beloved member of our rugby community whose passion for the game, integrity, and commitment to teamwork left a lasting impact on those around him.

Created for a U16 or U18 athlete who embodies Tim’s values and character, the award provides a lasting way for our club to recognize young athletes who lead through their actions, support those around them, and demonstrate a genuine love for rugby.

This year, we are proud to continue Tim’s legacy by naming Isaac Schregardus as the 2026 recipient, presented at our Youth & Junior Banquet, on August 19th.

Isaac is a natural leader who leads by example. Athletic, talented, and well-rounded, he brings a positive attitude to practices and games and consistently treats teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and everyone around the clubhouse with respect.

His commitment to the club extends well beyond the pitch. Whether helping clean up the shed, keeping those around him engaged and organised, or offering thoughtful words of advice and encouragement to his teammates, Isaac understands what it means to be part of a rugby community.

He is also committed to continually developing himself as a player, putting in work outside of regular rugby training, including CrossFit with Sam. Above all, Isaac never quits.

Described as “enthusiastic in a quiet way,” Isaac embodies the character this award was created to celebrate. His humility, determination, respect, and care for those around him are a fitting reflection of Tim himself.

With the continued support of Tim’s family, the Markham Irish are honoured to present the 2026 Tim Chapman Memorial Award for Outstanding Leadership to Isaac Schregardus.

Congratulations, Isaac. We are proud to celebrate you and the example you set for our club. May you continue to carry Tim’s spirit with you on and off the pitch.
